Raising money

Can I set a calendar reminder to donate?

Yes! Click on the 'set reminder' link near the top right of any fundraising page (just above the personal message) and you can choose to set a reminder in your Outlook, Google, Yahoo or MSN calendar. That way, you'll be able to remind yourself to donate on a date that suits you.

Why don't fundraising pages accept pledges ('pay on completion')?

We used to have a 'pay on completion' button, giving donors the option to pledge donations. We'd take your donors' card details and only debit their accounts once you finished your event.

We took the pledge option away because the 'delayed processing' system doesn't work with the enhanced security measures that we've built into our site.

For example, now we ask donors to enter the 3-digit security code on the back of their card. This confirms the donor is the rightful owner of the card, so we can't store the information. Pledges involve storing a donor?s card details until we process the donation, so we can't support them.

We comply with the highest security standards available for websites today. For more information, have a look at our security policy.

Will I raise less without pledges?

Plenty of Justgiving pages without the pledging option do just as well in the long run.

You can always email friends and family again after your event, to remind them to donate. It is a good time to update your page with a new photo and message, to show what you have achieved!

What happens to pledges already made to my page?

We process pledges already made to your page in the usual way. You don't need to do anything.

If you've pulled out of your event and have pledges on your page, please go to your Justgiving account and cancel your page now, so we don't process those pledges.

What are your security enhancements?

In September 2006, we introduced a super-efficient system of real-time donation processing. This means that the donations to your page won't just be processed daily, but individually each time someone donates.

Now we can offer your donors the latest fraud-prevention tools, and help charities even more by increasing the approval rate of donations. Your donors will know immediately whether their card has been accepted, so if there's a problem with their card they're more likely to try donating again right away.
