My story

Spurred on by the efforts of five of our ladies in successfully completing the five kilometre ‘Race for Life’ last year, ten fellow Jigsaw Solutions employees have picked up the gauntlet and will be entering into October’s ten kilometre run at Walsall Arboretum, which is in aid of cancer research.  The big difference this year is that the course is twice as long, and that men can enter the event as well as women, which will no doubt lead to some interesting inter-gender rivalry.

Putting all this aside for a moment, it is important to remember the real reason why any of us are going to be running.  Cancer is a disease that, at some point in our life, will affect virtually everyone, whether it be through our own suffering, or that of a friend or relative.  Cancer Research , however, is making considerable steps in helping control the affects of the disease; the overall cancer death rate has fallen by ten percent over the last decade and the average 10-year survival rate has doubled over the last thirty years.  These break-throughs would not have been possible without charitable donations, which cancer research relies heavily upon.

Because there’s twice the amount of Jigsaw employees taking part this year, running twice the previous distance, we expect to raise at least twice the amount.  Our dedicated crack team of athletes are working hard on their training (Friday breakfast runs seem mysteriously to have stopped, and pairs of running shoes have started appearing under desks).  So, feel relieved that you do not have to go through the effort of covering this distance yourself, and assuage your guilt by digging deep and making a hefty contribution to this very, very worthy cause.

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now!
